At Ethos Sports & Spine, our thorough evaluation consists of a 60-minute session with a doctorate-level, licensed physical therapist, which includes a detailed assessment of the function of the hips, abdominals, rib cage, neck, and shoulder girdle. This is followed by a treatment plan specific to our findings. Treatment entails manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and frequency-specific electrical stimulation which inhibits overactive muscles and activates underactive muscles.
At our practice, we utilize a whole-body approach because we recognize that the human body functions as a system. The muscles in the body move in a triplanar motion, meaning they have influence in all three planes of motion (sagittal, frontal and transverse), depending on the joint position. Therefore, changes in one part of the body will influence distal structures via lines of stress.
Muscle activation, mobility and flexibility all seem effortless and natural in a biomechanically-sound musculoskeletal system. Thus, it follows that the body should be viewed as a system as opposed to individually isolated muscles and joints. This is why our whole-body approach to treatment has time and time again shown to be the most effective way to shorten recovery time and increase performance.
